At Chesscolastics, our mission is to ignite a lifelong passion for chess in children by making the game both fun and meaningful. We believe that chess is more than just a game—it's a powerful tool for developing critical thinking, patience, creativity, and confidence. Through thoughtfully designed lessons, interactive play, and a supportive learning environment, we aim to nurture not only skilled young players but also curious, resilient learners. Whether a child is picking up a pawn for the first time or already dreaming of grandmaster titles, we strive to create an experience that inspires joy, sparks imagination, and cultivates a genuine love for the game.
Checkmate Moments: Ara Shares Her Chess Journey
(Arabella Aala, Winnipeg, Manitoba)

I wanted to share my chess journey with you! I started playing a year ago, thanks to my good friend Jamie. We've been close for a long time and share many hobbies. Jamie has a passion for chess, which made me curious to learn the game too.
Since then, I’ve been taking classes at Chesscolastics, where Jamie’s dad, Tito Jojo Nones—a Canada National Master and one of the instructors—has been coaching us and helping us improve our skills. He’s been teaching us consistently throughout the year.
At first, I didn’t understand much and felt confused. But I discovered that with excitement and a willingness to learn, you can get better at anything. Now, I’m thrilled to be joining chess competitions and experimenting with different strategies during matches.
I’m incredibly grateful to Chesscolastics and especially to my coach, Tito Jojo, for teaching me so many valuable techniques. With all the support I’ve received, I was able to win 1st place in the 6th Regular Manitoba Tournament!
Thank you so much, Tito Jojo and Chesscolastics!
